Roles and permissions

What you can see and do in Sentinel OS depends on your role. Understanding the roles explains why a colleague sees a button you don't, and who to ask when you need access to something.

The roles

• Org Admin — manages the whole organisation: every project, all cameras, users, and billing. Org Admins have administrator access across every project.
• Project Admin — manages the projects they are responsible for, including that project's settings, feeds, and people.
• Stakeholder — can view the projects they have been added to, including images and Site History, without managing settings.

Some accounts also have a billing focus, which can reach the Subscription area to manage the plan, invoices, and the card on file.

What this means in the app

• The Feeds, Studio, and Admin areas are for Org Admins.
• Project Settings is for project administrators.
• Media, Sitemap, Reports, and viewing images are available to everyone on a project.

Good to know

• If a button described in the Help Centre isn't visible to you, your role probably doesn't include that action. Ask an Org Admin.
• Org Admins inherit Project Admin access on every project, so they can manage any project without being added to it individually.
• Sentinel OS is single-organisation per account, so everything you see belongs to your organisation.

Common questions

Why can't I see the Admin area? It's for Org Admins. If you need something there, such as adding a user, ask your organisation's administrator.

Who can change my role? Roles are managed by your Org Admin. Contact them if you need different access.
