How to check a camera's diagnostics

When a camera seems to have stopped, or you just want to confirm it is healthy, the mobile app's Diagnostics screen shows its status, power, storage, recent logs, and alerts in one place. This guide shows you how to read it.

Before you start

• Diagnostics is an administrator view. If it isn't available to you, your role has viewing access rather than management access.
• Open this in the mobile app. On the web app, Diagnostics is coming soon; for now the mobile app is where you check a camera's health.

Step 1 — Open Diagnostics

Open the feed, tap the Settings (gear) button, then tap Diagnostics.

Step 2 — Read the camera's health

Diagnostics shows:

• Status — whether the camera is currently online or offline, based on its most recent check-in.
• Voltage — a graph of the camera's power over time, useful for spotting a failing battery or power supply.
• Free space — a graph of remaining storage, so you can see if the camera is running low.
• System logs — recent events with a timestamp and message.
• Alerts — any alerts raised for this camera.

Pull down to refresh for the latest readings.

Done

You have a full picture of the camera's health and can decide whether it needs attention on site.

Good to know

• Status is based on the camera's last check-in, so a camera that captures infrequently may briefly read as offline between check-ins.
• A falling voltage trend is often the earliest sign of a power problem, before the camera actually goes offline. It is worth checking when a site is due a visit.
• Low free space can stop a camera storing new images. Check this if images have stopped appearing.

Common questions

The camera shows offline but I think it's fine. Why? Status reflects the most recent check-in. If the camera checks in infrequently, it can read offline in the gap. Refresh, and check again after its next check-in.

Can I see diagnostics on the web app? Not yet. Diagnostics on the web is coming soon; use the mobile app for now.
