Replacing a Faulty Controller Mid-Project

If a controller fails mid-project, you can swap it for a spare so the project keeps capturing. Replacing a controller always involves a site visit to physically swap the hardware.

NOTE: Replacing your faulty controller involves a site visit to physically swap controllers.

Because preserving the feed's images, settings, and history across a hardware swap needs the spare paired to the existing feed, contact PhotoSentinel Support to arrange the controller replacement. Provide the serial numbers of both the faulty controller and the spare.

Interim self-serve path

If you don't need to keep the faulty unit's history under the same feed, you can:

  1. Add the spare as a new feed: go to Feeds → Add feed, enter the spare's Device serial number and a Feed name, and attach it to the project under Add to project. See Adding or Removing a Feed from a Project.
  2. Physically swap the hardware on site, switch the unit on, wait for it to connect, and confirm it uploads a photo to the project.
  3. Remove the faulty feed from the project (Feed → Projects tab → ⋯ → Remove from project). The faulty feed and its images are retained on your account.
