How to Create a Project

In Buildcam, you organise your cameras into projects. A project groups one or more feeds (cameras) for a site, and is where you view media, monitor your hardware, and generate reports. Creating a project is the Buildcam equivalent of the old "create an installation" step.

Creating projects is an Org Admin task. Once a project exists, you can add feeds to it at any time.

Create a project

  1. In the left navigation, go to Projects.
  2. Click New project (top right).
  3. Step 1 — Project info: enter a Project name and a Location (search for an address or drop a pin on the map). Optionally add a Description and a Thumbnail. Click Next →.
  4. Step 2 — Add cameras: select any cameras already on your account to include now. If you have none yet, or want to add them later, choose Skip / Continue without cameras. Click Next →.
  5. Step 3 — Invite users (optional): add teammates if you wish, then click Create project.

You'll be taken to your new project.

Add a feed (new hardware)

If the camera isn't on your account yet, add it as a feed:

  1. Go to Feeds in the left navigation, then click Add feed.
  2. Enter the Device serial number (printed on a sticker on the back of the unit and on the activation card) and a Feed name.
  3. Set the Location, and optionally choose a project under Add to project.
  4. Click Add feed.

There is no plan-selection step when creating a project or adding a feed. Plan and billing are managed per feed afterwards, on the feed's Services tab.

Once a feed is attached to a project, you can configure and monitor your hardware. To add or remove feeds from a project later, see Adding or Removing a Feed from a Project. You can conclude a project at any time — see concluding a project.
