Creating a timelapse video in Studio

Studio turns a feed's captures into a finished timelapse video you can keep and share. You choose a feed and a date range, set the output and any filters, check the first and last frame, then export. The finished video lands in your project's reports. This guide walks you through one export end to end.

Before you start

• Video credits. Rendering a video spends video credits, shown as N sec available in the Studio header. If you do not have enough, contact your administrator to purchase more — credits are not bought from Studio.
• A feed with captures. Studio builds the video from photos the camera actually took, so the feed needs captures in the range you pick.

Step 1 — Open Studio and pick a feed

Open Studio from the navigation. Use the feed selector at the top left to choose the feed you want to build a video from.

Step 2 — Set the date range

In the Configuration panel docked at the bottom, set the range your video should cover. Use the 7d or 30d quick options for a recent window, or pick a start and end day in the calendar. Only days the camera captured on can be chosen as the start or end.

Step 3 — Check the first and last frame

The middle of the screen shows the first frame and last frame in your range, each with its capture date and time. Use them to confirm the video covers the stretch you meant before you spend credits rendering it. They update whenever you change the feed or the range.

Step 4 — Set the output and filters

In the Configuration panel, set:

• Resolution — 720p, 1080p, or 4K (default 1080p).
• FPS — 24, 25, or 30 frames per second (default 24).
• Duration — how long the finished video runs, from 10 to 30 seconds (default 30).

Under Filters, turn on any image treatments you want — Brightness filter, Fuzzy removal, Dynamic range, Brightness smooth, Stabilisation, or Frame blend. Hover a filter to see what it does. All filters are off by default.

Step 5 — Apply to generate a preview

Click Apply in the Configuration panel. Apply generates a preview for the current settings. If you change anything after applying, the panel shows Preview out of date and you apply again.

Note: Export stays disabled until you have applied at least once — hover it and it explains "Click Apply first to generate a preview".

Step 6 — Export

Click Export, give the video a name, and optionally tick the box to have a download link emailed to you. Confirm to start the render.

Only one video renders at a time. While a render is in flight, Export is disabled and reads "One export at a time — your video is rendering".

Done

When the render finishes, Studio takes you to your project's Reports, where the finished video lives. If the feed is not linked to a project, you are told the video is ready and where to find it instead.

Good to know

• Videos use daytime captures. Studio builds the video from captures taken between 07:00 and 17:00. That window is fixed in this version and cannot be changed in the Studio settings.
• A render can take a while. Studio keeps working while it renders; you will be told when the video is ready. If it is still rendering after a few minutes, Export re-enables and the video appears in the Videos list on the right when it completes.
• Not enough credits stops the export with a message telling you how many seconds you have. Ask your administrator to add more.
• Schedule in the header sets up a recurring video on this feed, instead of a one-off export.

Common questions

What's the difference between a Studio video and a livelapse? A Studio video is a rendered file you export and keep. A livelapse is a quick on-the-fly playback of recent frames that you watch in the app but do not export.

Where did my finished video go? To the reports of the project the feed belongs to. You can also find it in the Videos list on the right of Studio for that feed.

Why can't I click Export? Either you have not applied yet (apply first to generate a preview), or a video is already rendering (only one runs at a time).
