How to create your first project

A project is how Sentinel OS groups everything for one site: its cameras, their images, the site map, and its reports. Creating a project is usually the first thing an administrator does, because every camera lives inside a project. This guide walks you through creating one and what happens next.

Before you start

• You need Org Admin access. Project creation is an administrator action.
• If you don't see a New project button, your account isn't an Org Admin. Ask your organisation's administrator to create the project, or to add you to an existing one so you can start viewing its images.

Step 1 — Open Projects

Select Projects in the sidebar. You land on the projects dashboard, which lists every project you have access to. If your organisation is brand new, you see an empty state instead of project cards.

Step 2 — Start a new project

Select New project in the top-right of the dashboard. If you have no projects yet, you can also select Create your first project in the middle of the empty dashboard. The create-project screen opens.

Step 3 — Enter the project details

Give the project a clear name (usually the site or job name) and set its location. The name is what everyone in your organisation will see in their projects list, so make it recognisable. Save when you are done.

Step 4 — Open your new project

The new project opens once it is created. It starts on the Media tab, ready for you to add or view cameras.

Your project is created and open. From here you can view the cameras assigned to the site, position them on the site map, and invite the right people to the project.

Good to know

• Only Org Admins can create projects. Everyone else sees the projects they have been added to, without a create button.
• The project name isn't permanent. You can rename a project later from its Settings tab (Project Admins).
• A brand-new project has no cameras yet. Cameras (feeds) are provisioned with your PhotoSentinel hardware. If a site has cameras that aren't showing, contact your Account Manager.

Common questions

Can I create a project without any cameras yet? Yes. A project can exist before its cameras are live. The Media tab shows an empty state until cameras are assigned to it.

Who can see the project once I create it? Org Admins see every project. Other people see it only once they are added to it.

Can I delete a project I created by mistake? Project settings are managed from the project's Settings tab. If you need to remove a project, contact your Account Manager.
